August 28, 2017 (Edition 3)
Some old information was updated.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
This guidebook will describe how to access one of the best sake breweries in Tokyo and a walking trail along the Tama River. Included are details about these destinations with many pictures of landmarks along the way.
SAWANOI 澤乃井 is a brand name of sake which is made by a company named OZAWA SHUZO 小澤酒造. This brewery is in Tokyo 東京 and easy to access by train.
Sake is made from only rice and is also called Nihonshu. Sake has about 15-17% alcohol. When Japanese people drink sake, they usually drink it straight. It is typically sipped in Ochoko (a small sake cup) or in a glass.
Would you like to drink reasonably priced, high-quality sake?
Let’s do it!

The walking trail described in this guidebook is not along a steep, mountainous path. It is an easy nature walk along the riverside. It is a good place for couples to go on a date. Most parts of the walking trail are flat paths which are well-maintained with cement. If it is a fine day, sneakers are fine to wear for walking there. Some cafes and restaurants have a fine view of the natural beauty around the walking trail. You might stop to enjoy tasty Japanese food and sweets there.

The walking trail goes along a river and passes three stations, so you can leave the walking trail anytime, and flexibly change which way you walk if you change your mind or if you run out of time during your trip. You don’t need a specific itinerary.

If you add the field trip to the sake brewery into your walk, it will be more exciting than ordinary sightseeing.
Don’t miss the sake tasting bar! You can drink many kinds of traditional Japanese sakes and taste plum wine there. Following these plans will become an unforgettable experience during your stay in Japan.
Have a nice trip!

Table of Contents
1-1: Introduction to the sake brewery and the walking trail
1-2: The detail map of the walking course
1-3: The area around Mitake 御嶽 Station
1-4: The area around Sawai 沢井 Station and the field trip to the sake brewery
1-5: The area around Ikusabata 軍畑 Station
画面が切り替わりますので、しばらくお待ち下さい。
